The DNA explanation on this site is written by someone who has a less than basic understanding of genetics. They use incorrect terminology at inappropriate places, amking it on the whole, confuising.

Exactly, I agree 100% with your response montage. For better definition I'm seeking general personal thoughs from everyone on this site to further my understanding as well as others. Someday I hope for a stronger vampyre nation and better understanding of our roots and who we are. The truth is out there somewhere, its just harder for our kind to find.

You know, this is actually something I don't do and never will (well, except for the "observe" part, sometimes I just like to have a good laugh, lol). I would never leave comments on vampire related sites on a public message board. Internet is not as extensive as some might...

I agree as well that this virus just doesn't make sense, I've know of its background for many years, as well as the fact that it started on ultraviolet, the british tv show. They actually made a movie based on the tv show too. Just on the basis of this alone would lead me to believe that this website is full of it, but again, there are still many other aspects of the site I would like to explore. Montag, I was not claiming that the virus exists, just simply trying to explain what could be happening if it did exist. I personally don't believe that it does, but I can't resist trying to figure out why even a fictional thing exists or occurs. It's what keeps me sane, for the most part.

Vampyrism is not a virus, period. Damn, and I almost thought we got past these bullshit crap. Some people are apparently still spreading around fiction. Its not hard to make conspiracy theories or twist them into "real facts". Seriously, people should do some research first. There is a lot of sites debunking these stupid theory, for example here, where you can find not only all about these viruses but also how and why they made up stuff like this:

Yes, that is true, and that could suggest that the virus, if there is one, has mutated from a form that, in the past, was able to infect reproductive cells, which led to people being born as Vampyres. This could in turn mean that the viral variation is either weaker or stronger than that of the genetic variation, and that possessing the virus later would simply serve to augment and/or activate the genes that one might already possess.

Of course, this is all just speculation.

Maringa, the retrovirus theory is a possibility, though I am not saying for certain that it is probable. The things that could account for the genes not being passed on to the offspring of an infected individual is that it could be, in essence, the opposite (in specialization, anyway) of that of say...the flu virus, and that the mothers placenta could be hostile to the virus particle. Although I like that their list is pretty comprehensive, and they remind people that there can be false positives, they have some of the science wrong if they are going by the retrovirus theory that they claim. Yes retroviruses change DNA, but most of these changes are either non-important, or they are deadly. Most changes to DNA cause cancer, for example. The other thing is that if it was dormant until puberty and affected the child non-lethally at this period, the genes that were changed...
