My current opinion is that this is a rather intelligent mechanism, that evolution gifted vampyres with, because I assume that in early times when a child was born an awakened vampyre in a human background it would get burned, executed or at any rate disposed off in some way without it having a chance to defend itself, evolution responded to this with the latent state which I believe helps to solve this problem making it more stealthy, with a cost nonetheless, hiding the vampyre until about puberty when the person could handle the situation better and that is also when many changes happen, plus puberty can act as a cover for all of the weirdness, in addition to this even if the vampyre doesn't manage to feed or in any way reverts back to the latent state the genetic material lives on, which is what seems to matter to every species. But these are merely my own silly thoughts conserning the subject, forgive my long rant.
Questions:
>What do we know about this?
>Would the vampyre be born awakened if one parent is an awakened vampyre and the other a human(or anything else non-vampyric)?
