Not sure... an atheist is one that doesn't believe in the existence of a god (or gods), right? Well, I do think there could powerful spirits (as high
ranking as a 'God' would be), but I don't have the merest sense of trust towards them...does that make me an atheist? Just for the record, I hate
the christian God xD

Heathen, but not atheist. I absolutely cannot stand Christianity and Catholicism, their beliefs systems don't mesh with mine at all, but I still feel a
need for belief in some higher powers, and after some searching found Odinism, and their beliefs and mine mesh almost completely, plus it's a recreation of
the paths of my ancestors, so I'm sticking to it.

I do not classify myself as atheist. The giant, rainbow-colored pentragram between my shoulder blades can attest to that. As to my level of committment to the
religion and its practices, it varies with whatever my momentary level of devotion is. Belief and practice aren't always one and the same.

I never heard of Odinism, would you care to elaborate? At first to me it sounds related to the Northern god Odin, but that's just what comes to mind.

Kev, you are completely right. It's based on one of the sects of the Old Norse religious paths, one that was devoted to the followers of Odin, just as
there were those who were devoted to Frey, Thor, and Loki, to name a few. The followers of this sect were not only the stereotypical powerful warriors of Norse
myth, but they were also the most devoted to the pursuit of knowledge, unlike the followers of Thor who mostly just wanted to fight and kill. The followers of
Odin were also the Mages of the tribes, and versed in the Runes. They were the healers, diviners, and storytellers of the tribes.

Interesting, I 'll have to look that up. I seem to like what this religion is about, but (if I may ask of course) does that also mean you believe in
Odin's existence? Or do you simply take their principles? I am only curious and there is nothing I know which could allow me to tell you that Odin (or any
other deity) isn't there.

Kev, yes it means that you believe in Odin's existence, but there is where you enter a gray area, some choose to believe that he existed merely as a human
then revered as a god, while others believe that he actually was a god. They preach experience and wisdom over blind faith, so it is possible to believe that
the Gods existed as mortal men and their memories live on as the Gods. Then again, the thing that I've been hearing the most is that the majority of
followers believe in them as Gods. There is one slight problem though, it is a religion that does not accept people without Northern European heritage, but it
is NOT a white supremacist group. Merely, we believe that each person should follow their ancestors belief paths.

I see, but what if one's ancestors' had flawed beliefs? It is always possible, most of mine were orthodox for instance with I cannot agree. I tried to
learn about christianity, but I sincerely did not like what I found. I'm about 40% Russian (well all around the Soviet Union) so you see where I get all of
that christian ancestry. Thanks for explaining all that stuff by the way.

Kev, when I said that people should follow their ancestral belief paths, I was implying pre-monotheistic religion, sorry about not making this clear. If you
look Northern European and have ancestry in Northern Europe, then some of the more lenient groups would probably accept you, if you decide to follow this path.
But I must warn you, it is difficult to begin, and even more difficult to continue down. It is not for those who are "just experimenting", it is only
for those who have a very strong bond or attraction the the old Norse Gods and their belief systems.
